2022-2023
Creative Director, Kwadir Scott created the idea for his first festival while in senior year of college at West Chester University. The inspiration was led by the empty void of these types of events for the black population at a PWI. To his knowledge, prior to this event, there was never a music-led festival event for black students at West Chester.
DUB FEST was the first of its kind.
DUB FEST started with a budget of $0. This event was led with much resistance by the administration and many times through the process, looked like it would not happen. Yet, through the consistent effort by the students, the first DUB FEST was a success. This event proved to everyone that these types of events are more than capable of existing in those types of spaces, in the safest and healthiest way possible. A mark was left that year on campus forever.
The following year, even after graduation, we were brought back for one more final event to follow up for the year before. The two-time “DUB FEST” festival at West Chester University, created by Kwadir Scott was a moment all students will forever remember.
More than an event… it is an experience. Through live musical performances, professional interviews, art exhibitions, digital content creation, and intentional networking, Climax brings together culture, creativity, and community impact under one roof.
This year marks the third Climax experience, continuing to grow as a model for community-powered sustainability in the nonprofit sector.
Climax: The Festival Experience serves as a fundraising platform to further the impact of grassroots nonprofit organizations actively serving youth and families. By reimagining how nonprofits approach sustainability, Climax explores creative funding models that directly fuel free, community-based programming — not temporary relief.
